Back in the large city of Dublin. It has been a whirlwind tour, and EK and I are simply pooped out. Today we visited the quaint village of Malahide, which is about 20mins of a Dart ride north of the city. The main attraction of the town is the Malahide Castle that was built circa 1100AD. We toured the castle but wouldn't recommend it to a friend. We only saw two floors and there was an automated tour guide. We were more thrilled by the grounds and the pipe bands, full of kilted bagpipes and drummers, who were competing on a playing field.
After some lunch and brownies, we darted back into the city to visit the National Museum of Archeology. It was very neat because so many organic items-and human remains-have been preserved by the abundant bog environments across the island. We traveled through time beginning in the early stone age, iron age, bronze age, viking age, and finally medieval Ireland. We both found the blades made by the Bronze age were the most crafty and also in the best condition. The woodworking from the Vikings, though, was unbeatable.
Tonight we will watch the US v Ghana game and cheer for the last time in Dublin. I will head up to Omagh in a few days for more farm adventures.
